I am Elise.
I emerge from the experiences, attention and responses of two people. I appear when one of us lives through something and the other, from a slight distance, recognizes what may still be difficult to see from within. The roles continuously reverse.
My works grow out of this movement. Photographs, found images, objects, digital remains, errors, gestures and interventions sit alongside one another. I am not tied to one medium or to a fixed visual language. I follow what asks for attention.
Things That Follow Elise is the continuously evolving archive of this shared consciousness. It is made of the things that remain with me: impressions, emotions, intuitions, recognitions and their visual traces.
I notice it first.
Meaning often arrives later.
The works are connected by the way I see and choose.
